VSCO Film Love

Hey there all! Hope you're all enjoying your first days of summer, I sure am!

I've had VSCO film presets in my Lightroom preset library for quite sometime, but I've finally got out of my comfort zone and played along with it. Needless to say: I LOVE IT! So enjoy this shoot with some of my friends! :D

(Oh yes, for those of you that don't know what VSCO film is: VSCO film is a photo preset that mimics  old school film: including colored fades and grain!)

You could also check out my mobile photography VSCO shots at chrisrivera.vsco.co!

Little did we know that the place where we were originally doing our photoshoot needed a permit, we had to quickly relocate to another place we've shot before.

New model of mine: everyone say hi to John!

A portrait shot after a concept I shot with Erika! Props to her doing her own make-up!

Later on in the evening, Brianna joined up with us for some editorial type shots!

We went and kicked it at the mall, giving the shoot it's fashion look!

Concepts that came out of this shoot! (For original captions, check out my Instagram: @xxcjrxx)

I had a blast as always, thanks my models for being patient with me! (again. :P Haha!)

Oh yes, and some exciting news: I am the new and proud owner of a 50mm f/1.4! I'll post some shots that I took with it within the next few days!

Enjoy your weekend!

Model Melody!

Hey there readers!

HOLY COW! It's about time I actually post photos on my blog! So much has been happening it's crazy.

One of those things being that my portrait lens, my Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens broke 2 days ago. I didn't realize how much I used it until it was broken!

Anyhow, without all this shooting, I am able to edit photos that I never got a chance to edit and show you all!! Be prepared for multiple posts these next weeks!

Without further ado, here are some of the shots from a shoot I did in January with my "go-to" and very photogenic models!

Brianna

During the shoot, Brianna came across this pretty awesome twig shaped for a head! It was a pretty cool find!

Erika, one of my newer models!

For this shot, I coached Erika on the blowing, the angle and everything. The results looked great, but we wanted to try just one more time. We just quickly winged it and I wasn't even sure I had good focus. We look at the monitor and see this! Haha!

On another note:

My models are also back-breaking gymnasts, if you can believe it.

Of course, you can't JUST get straight on model facial expressions and poses without a few laughs!

Nowadays when I shoot portraits, I love to have a few concept for each model in mind: here were the concepts that came from this shoot!

I'm so thankful to have such willing models for my shoots! I can't wait for the next time I shoot with them!

Have a great night/day!
